Abinerra Diedre Calling The soles of my feet stung a bit as I passed the park, sitting seemed like a good idea. It was a little more than an hour after School, I had track after classes today. I flunked down on a bench, luckily it was one with a back. I sat my side bag beside me on the wooden bench, exhaling deeply. I had math homework to do, I figured here was as good a place as any. Fishing my workbook and a pencil from my bag I tapped my foot, the pencil resting on my lip as I puzzled at the work. Math was not my strongest point. I often over thought it and ended up second guessing myself, on many things. Often times I was actually better than the others, I just thought too much. Finally the first answer worked out in my head, I quickly wrote it out. My pencil scratched against the paper. Noises were all around, I worked best like this. The hum of distant traffic, chirping birds, bikers, joggers. The park was my favorite place in the city. I tipped my head back, moaning as I worked out the slightly harder second question. I scribbled furiously, working it out on the paper... three multiplied by X, carry the nine, divide by... I squeezed my eyes shut, over thinking yet again.

I walked down the streets of Willow Heights with my hands deep down in my pockets. I smiled at every person who I walked past. I came to Willow Park and decided to take a stroll. I started to walk down the path. I crossed over the bridge and passed the fountain. I watched the dogs play with eachother, grabbing eachother by the scruffs and falling on top of eachother. Today was a good day.
I finally reached a bench where somebody who I had recognized from school sat. She was working on something. "What are you working on?" I smiled at her. I sat down beside her and introduced myself. "I am Matthew Richard, but I am sure you knew that," I smiled again.

I tok Mr. Ricard's hand, I remebered him, a teaching assistant in drama class "Abinerra Calling" I said as I introduced myself. "I'm often mistaken for some one else though" I chuckled, remembering the countless times someone had called me Sophie. "Right now I'm working on math actualy" I shared my notes. "It's not my best subject..." Mr.Richard's smile was warm and brought a different mood to where we sat, seperating us more from the gloom of the world.

I nodded. "Your sister, Sophie? Is that her name? I think she is in my drama class but then again that might be you." I chuckled. "Math isn't so bad, you just have to practice. Well its that or you have to find a fun way to learn it." I smiled again and continued. "What are you guys doing right now?" I asked her.

"calculus" I replied. "I missed last lesson, the teacher likes to just kick me out for no reason... I have a feeling I'm not his favourite student..." I shuffled my feet a bit. I never knew if he was frustrated that I could correct him easily or if it was something else I was doing wrong but either way he sure wasn't my favourite teacher.

I chuckled slightly. "Unfourtuanately math isn't my strong subject." I got a phone call. I looked at the caller ID and stood up. "Sorry I have to take this," I looked at her apologetically. I went to the bridge and started to talk.
"What do you want?" I said bitterly. It was my Ex, Emilee. "I was calling to see if you were busy tonight . . ." She answered. "I am busy," I said and hung up.
I walked back over to Abinerra and apologized. "Sorry about that."

I nodded with a little laugh. I closed my book, returning it and my pencil to my bag. I relaxed as I leaned back on the bench. "Hey, sorry but I realy gotta get going." I said, remembering I had work this evening. "I suppose I'll see you in class monday" I said, standing to leave.

"Yeah," I smiled. "Every student's favourite day, Monday." I waved her goodbye and headed off, back to my car. I passed the dogs again, this time there was only one playing fetch with its owner. I smiled as I passed by. Over the bridge and out of the park. I got into my Mazda 3 and drove to my condo.
